As part of activities to mark the 46th and 47th Convocation Ceremony of the University of Benin, Benin City, Edo State, Wednesday 24th November, 2021 was a day set scheduled for the UNIBEN Heroes Award/Excellence and Productivity Awards. Amongst the many recipients of the Excellence and Productivity Awards, was our very own Dear Chief Executive Officer and Founder of the Women’s Health and Action Research Centre (WHARC) – Professor Friday Okonofua. Eulogizing Professor Okonofua, the Vice Chancellor – Professor Lilian Imuentiyan Salami described him as “a man with a big heart and humility”. The programme of events heralding the convocation ceremony kicked off on Monday 22nd November, 2021, and ended on Saturday 27th November, 2021.
In attendance were the Chancellor of UNIBEN – Tor Tiv, Prof. James Ortese Iorzua Ayatse and Pro-Chancellor of UNIBEN – Olorogun Sunny Kuku, staff and students of the University of Benin and invited guests including former Governor of Edo State – Chief John Odigie Oyegun, Rev and Mrs. Matthew Okpebholo, Students, Members of Staff, internal and external publics of the University of Benin, amongst others.
