Dr Rosemary Nkemdilim Ogu, is a Consultant Obstetrician/Gynaecologist and Senior Lecturer at the University of Port Harcourt. She graduated (MB.BS) with distinction from the University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria, in 1999. Her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital from 2003 to 2008, earned her the fellowship of both the West African College of Surgeons and the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (FWACS, FMCOG).

She has special research interest in the areas of Sexual/Reproductive Health, Feto-Maternal Medicine & Non-Communicable Diseases. She is the Secretary of the World Health Organisation/Federal Ministry of Health Maternal Newborn Child Health Implementation Research Team for the reduction of Maternal & Perinatal Mortality in Nigeria. She is the principal investigator of the UPTH World Health Organisation Safe Childbirth Checklist Collaboration and the World Diabetes Foundation (WDF) supported Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) Control Program in Niger Delta. She is the principal investigator of the MWAN Improving Maternal Health Initiative in sub-Saharan Africa supported by Pfizer Global. She has over 60 published articles in peer reviewed journals.

As associate of the Women’s Health and Action Research Centre & past president of the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria, she collaborates with relevant Government and Non-Government Agencies/Parastatals to extend sensitization, awareness, screening, diagnostic, preventive and care services for Diabetes Mellitus and other non-communicable diseases, improve adolescent & maternal health, and advocate for health policy change.

Dr Ogu is married with children.
