The African Journal of Reproductive Health (AJRH), Africa’s leading indigenous Journal in Reproductive Health, announces a special edition focusing on the COVID-19 pandemic.
The purpose of this special edition is to compile various perspectives of the pandemic in order to document research, policies and actions that can be explored to tackle the current and future pandemics. While we would be interested in narratives that describe the experiences of the virus in Africa, we are also interested in experiences from other regions of the world that will guide the design of policies and interventions for curtailing the virus in the African region. We are particularly interested in the description of innovative indigenous and traditional approaches being trialed or being considered for the elimination of the virus. However, such descriptions must provide verifiable scientific explanations to warrant their inclusion in the special edition.
AJRH is particularly interested in original research articles, commentaries, reviews, short communications, methodologies, work-in-progress, and case reports that highlight the peculiarity of the COVID-19 experience. While the Journal would appreciate perspectives relating to reproductive health, for this edition we also welcome perspectives from the broader aspects of health, including papers that explore the social and economic consequences of the pandemic.
This special edition of the AJRH will be published and launched in June 30, 2020. Consequently, we request all submissions to be made not later than May 20, 2020 to enable a thorough peer review process.
The current COVID-19 pandemic has presented one of the greatest challenges in global health care with corresponding consequences for social and economic development. This special edition of the journal provides unique opportunity for the global community to chronicle these developments, as a way to prepare Africa and the rest of the world to handle such events in future.
