The Primary Health Care Under One Roof (PHCUOR) Champions, lead by WHARC under the sponsorship of Champion for Change (C4C), visited the Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly on Tuesday, 4th of April, 2017. The purpose of the visit is to advocate for the amended Bill aimed at making the Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency fully functional (EDPHCDA) to be passed into law as soon as possible. Dr Wilson Imongan, The Executive Director of WHARC, highlighted the need for the House of Assembly to expedite action on passing the Bill into law as the State has not been able to get funding meant for PHC development due to non-functional PHCDA. He also reiterate the importance of Primary Health Care in ensuring people in the rural and remote get equal access to quality health care. The Speaker in his response said the Governor, His Excellency Godwin Obaseki, has mandated the house to ensure smooth passage of the bill into law within the shortest possible time.
