Dr. Wilson Imongan
Wilson Imongan, A Medical Practitioner, graduated from the University of Ibadan and had additional training in Dermatological Sciences from the University of Wales, Cardiff, UK. He worked for several years as Medical Officer in charge of the Skin Clinic and STI/HIV/AIDS clinic from where he was deployed to the State Ministry of Health as the Assistant Director, Primary Health care with responsibility for Reproductive Health from year 2000 to 2007. He was Honorable Commissioner for Health in Edo State from 2007 to 2008. On retirement from the civil service, he became as an Associate of WHARC for many years and later was appointed Deputy Executive Director, Maternal Health at the Women’s Health and Action Research Centre (WHARC), Benin City. He is currently the Executive Director of WHARC. He has worked with many NGOs and in the humanitarian sector where he was elected State Chairman of the Nigerian Red Cross Society and later, as National Health Adviser. He was one time Edo State Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association.
Wilson Imongan is well known for his media advocacy for Health. He produced and presented the popular widely viewed public health enlightenment program, Lifeline on ITV, Benin between 1997 & 2005.
1995 to 1998 he served as a member of Edo State Sports Council Board of Directors, 2000 to 2004 he was a member, Board of Directors, Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, Irrua, Edo State; Vice Chairman Edo State Action Committee on AIDS (SACA) 2007 to 2008.
